I'm the kind of person who...

Believes that if you push the elevator button multiple times - it will arrive faster.

Will try to cook something along with a cooking show, only to throw all the food away when it tastes like crap.

Has to have all of the bottles, cans of soda, bottles of condiments, etc in the refrigerator facing the same direction.

Carries on 5+ min conversations with myself and/or my dog.

Thanks to his grandmother, is extremely superstitious, and WILL NOT put shoes on any table or a hat on the bed.

Thinks that beer, wine, or liquor just tastes better after midnight.

Balances my checkbook old-school style with a register, calculator, and bank statement once a week.

Despises voice mails.

Loves getting mail - even bills.

Won't touch raw meat, instead I wear kitchen or latex gloves when handling raw meat.

Tuesday Afternoon, "I'm just beginning to see, now I'm on my way..."

Anyone know where that title hails from?

Well, well, well...It's been a little over one week and get this, I've lost 4 pounds! Can you believe it? I still can't, let's hope that I have the will power to keep this up. Granted, it's not that hard, it's just time consuming trying to figure out what to eat before you actually eat it, and counting your points, other than that Weight Watchers isn't that hard to follow. I will admit it's much easier to just pick something out and eat it - not worrying about points, but I'll be happy with around 20 pounds, so I'll keep it up.

This past weekend I finally found a new computer! I have been looking since Christmas, and I wasn't able to find just the right one. Well, I finally did! I'm typing this very blog on my brand new pimped out Sony Vaio. It's awesome, though, it's going to take me some time to fully figure out Windows 7, and though I have the 64 bit version, I'm not really sure what the difference is between it and the 32 bit version. It's the perfect size, slightly over 13 inches and it couldn't be any faster! This is my second Vaio, and both receive and A+ in my book.

Since being turned on to Ina Garten (Ms. Barefoot Contessa) by Telly, I've become vexed by her and her cooking show. There is something about her and her show that I really like, her recipes are classy, delicious, yet down to earth and doable. In another [read: prebusiness school years] life I wanted to go to culinary school. Maybe when I retire I can finally do it. Oh, but I do have to say this. I HATE the Neely's who also have a show on the Food Network. Their gratuitous use of the words: honey, baby, mmmmm, Mama, Ugh weee, etc make me want to vomit all over the remote. I cannot stand their annoying asses. Food Network, can them, no pun intended.

Is it just me, or is the new Microsoft Bing restaurant/vampire commercial scary & disturbing? It gives me a rapid heart beat & chest pains every time I see it!

Couple of thoughts...

David Guetta
My latest obsession: David Guetta. You may, or may not have heard of him. I hadn’t until about three weeks ago. He is very well known music producer in France who is just now beginning to break on to the scene, so to speak, in the United State. Um, what can I say besides uber talented. His music style isn’t for everyone, but it is for me. It very techy, electronic, and catchy. You most likely have (or soon will have) heard his latest song featuring Akon – Sexy Chick. Check it out here.

Winning Points, Winning Choices
I officially started the Weight Watchers, Winning Points program at the first of the year. It was a little challenging at the beginning, but I’m pretty sure that I’ve got it now. So far, no cheating and I’ve have stayed within my daily points range. I’m being realistic, so I really like the fact that Weight Watchers still allows for eating out and some occasional fast food. I weigh in again on Monday, results to follow. 20 pounds or bust…fingers crossed.

Patience is a virtue...
So I had a bit of an impulse by the other day. I found this very cool and different cologne that was being described on TV by a celebrity. One problem, it’s pretty much only available in Europe. Not to worry, though, FedEx delivers! I can’t wait for my new colognes arrival. I am big on buying things before I even get to see, touch, or smell them, and this purchase is no different. I bought my Lexus without even seeing it, special ordered it and had it shipped in from Japan. I bought my current car without even driving it. I purchased it and the first time I drove it, was off the lot. I’m a bit of a cologne whore so this will fit nicely with my collection – I hope!

Standing before an open door never resulted in a single changed life. Walking through an open door changed the lives of many. Are you willing to walk thru it?

Christmas, ex post facto

Well I don’t know about all of you, but I certainly had a good Christmas. I got some really cool things, a few I had a sneaky suspicion I might be receiving…others not even a clue. For starters the food dehydrator and jerky making kits is awesome. I have already made three batches, once I master the art of meat curing I plan to move on to veggies and fruits. Second, I love my new mini-blood pressure monitor. It’s so small I could wear it under my suit, well except that it’s a little loud when it’s inflating. Also, I got some new house shoes that could pass for regular loafers – that’s right I plan to wear them out to the store, gas station, bank, anywhere. I have no shame. On the other hand, I think that most of my family liked the things that I picked up for them. My mother already has the automatic composter up and running. Let’s just hope that the compost works well. Also, my sister like her jumbo candy jar filled to the brim with all different flavors of gums. My other sister also got a steamer, I have one and I know she will love it. Oh, also I got a real candy dispenser for my desk at work. Awesome! Still to come: a blazer, dress pants, and some new cowboy boots. I wasn’t able to find any I liked or the correct size prior to Christmas.

Now comes the hard part: 1) finding room for all of my new gifts, and 2) paying off all the ones I bought for other people. :-)

I'm in a bit of a pickle...

I was beginning to think that I had permanently damaged my taste buds due to over consumption of sour candy and pickled things. However, my fears were dispelled yesterday at lunch at work. Here lately, all of the pickles that I have bought have had an “off flavor.” And don’t think that I just bought a different brand and have yet to become accustomed to their flavor. I ONLY buy/eat two brands of pickles. Best Maid for hamburger dills, baby dills, and regular dills, and Claussen for pickle halves. No other brands do I purchase.

Anyway, the last three jars of Best Maid Dill Pickles haven’t tasted quite right. They taste as almost if there is a slight butter flavor when you finish and cleanse your palette. Anyway, back to the point, my co-worker asked for one of the extra pickles that I brought from home. After taking one bite, they said “egh, does this have butter or something in it?” At that moment, I quietly breathed a sigh of relief, my taste buds weren’t crazy, in fact, they were spot on. The aftertaste, if you will, is actually quite nasty; also, because I know people will be thinking that I simply bought a jar of Bread & Butter pickles by accident, I didn’t. I think that Best Maid may have released a bad batch (or three) of pickles, or worse, changed their recipe!

But, trust, I will get to the bottom of this. A letter is all but certainly on the way to the Best Maid customer care center. Stay tuned…

Me and my eccentricities

Why can I not seem to throw away old lotto tickets?!?! I mean, seriously – I can’t. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I am known as a bit of a pack rat, but then again, who isn’t. Yes, I’m just like everyone else, I keep clothes that are too small in the hopes that I will eventually lose weight and get into shape and subsequently the smaller article of clothing. I also seem to keep old magazines and mail around, but that’s beside the point. I guess I feel that I can’t get rid of old lotto tickets on the slim off-chance that I might have misread or overlooked the numbers on the lotto ticket and it could actually be a winner. How on Earth would I be able to continue with my life knowing that I might have possibly thrown out a multi-million dollar winning ticket? I just couldn’t and therefore I don’t throw away lotto tickets until they are one year or older. FYI – Texas Lotto tickets are void after one year...that way I never have to worry about accidentally throwing away millions.

Is anyone else sick of hearing about Tiger Woods? I mean, I never really liked the guy, but come on, give the man a break. Talent aside, Tiger’s unsightly bad attitude and un-sportsman-like conduct has really annoyed me over the years, the time I saw him slap an adoring fan who happened to be a child’s hand out of the way when he missed his shot sealed the deal for me. Tiger = Douche. I think the media has done enough damage and smeared his name enough. Move on to the next ‘hot topic.’ PLEASE!

Ghetto vs. Comfort, Cold Spell...crap

So as we all know, the cold weather is upon us. With that being said, I’m left with a burning question. Is it acceptable to wear my sherpa lined slippers out to walk the dog and to the mailbox, or must I take the time to put on my tennis shoes and traipse outside? I have worn them to do both of the above mentioned tasks, and I got a couple of strange looks; but, we all know I could not care less as to what “those people” think about me. Keep in mind my slippers are not your average slippers, they are brown suede-like covered, with a complete rubber sole, and lined with the oh-so-comfortable warm sherpa lining. Now, I’ve also wanted to wear my pajama pants out as well, but I haven’t yet – I do take the time to throw on a pair of jeans or wind pants.

I am not really a fan of cold weather, give me 100+ degree weather any day, but if it is cold I am thankful that I have an electric blanket. If you don’t own one – get one! There is no way I could survive this crazy frigid weather without mine. It stays on ‘HI’ all night and all day, that way I never have to wait for the bed to warm up.

There are only sixteen days left to finish your Christmas shopping. I am doing well with mine, but could be better. I still need to pick up several smaller gifts as “fillers.” Also, I need to pick up a couple of items for individuals at work.
